Two of my favourite people were married last June. I first met them a few weddings years ago when Marks brother was married. Since then i’ve been lucky enough to photograph a few of their friends weddings. I first got them in front of my camera last Spring when we did engagement photos at their home and back yard. First off, I loved photographing in a space so personal to them… they had just moved in to their home and it was perfect. Next, I just love being around these two. Pinch me, I get to capture genuine love and it makes me a better person surrounding myself with all of it.
Not only did Kara and Mark plan a wedding during a pandemic, Kara is also a nurse on the front lines and at the time was doing covid testing. She is a literal angel and I can’t imagine all of the stress with the every changing restrictions and she handled it like a pro.
Their plans may have changed but they ended up having the best day ever… their dream wedding. That’s what they told me at the end of the night and I couldn’t have been more happy for them.
I’ve never photographed a wedding where I photographed and witnessed so many tears. I’m not kidding, myself included! It was an emotional, love and fun filled day. From the beautiful flowers to the first dances outside around the fire, it really was the best day ever and I’m so happy for these two and honoured that they chose me to photograph it.
Here are a few of my favourite photos from their Edmonton backyard wedding.
